Tryout location
All tryouts will be held at Cargill Park. Players must pre-register for tryouts using the tryout registration link. Tryouts are closed to parents. faq
- Read all information regarding Tryouts and register online. Attend the Competitive program zoom meeting. If you miss the meeting the recording will be available.
- Continue to check CABOSA.org and our social media platforms for new information and any changes.
- Try to not add any extra pressure to your child before or during tryouts.
- On the first day, plan to arrive 30-45 minutes prior to the tryout start time to allow for check-in time, traffic and locating the appropriate field. You will not need to arrive that early for the remaining days.
- Players will receive a tryout number. This assigned identification number must be worn on the tryout shorts at ALL sessions.
- Wear shin guards, cleats, and bring properly inflated ball.
- Wear solid color shorts, shirt, and socks (black, blue or gray). Club uniforms should not be worn to tryouts.
- Hydrate before the session and bring water.
While attendance at all tryout sessions is RECOMMENDED, we do understand that there are schedule conflicts that sometimes cannot be resolved. You must still register your player for tryouts and notify the Director of Coaching that the player will not be present at the scheduled tryouts.
In the event of inclement weather, updates will be communicated via email to registered players if any changes to the schedule are made. Updates will also be shared via CABOSA/Shreveport United social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram.
Tryout: Held over two nights with each session being an hour and a half in length
Evaluators: Shreveport United Directors of Coaching and coaching staff
Your child will be evaluated by the coaching staff in various group activities. The staff will assess current skill level, effort and potential ability. The tryout process is conducted in a relaxed environment where players are encouraged to have fun.
Player Selection: The number of players selected will be determined by the number of players in attendance and the quality of the player pool. Our desire is to offer a spot to every player in these younger ages. If the staff determines that another program is more appropriate for your player, we will have an individual conversation with parents.
Tryout: Held over two nights with each session being one and a half hours in length.
Evaluators: Shreveport United Directors of Coaching and staff coaches
Player Selection: Each player that attends the tryout session is evaluated in four different areas: technical, tactical, physical and psychological. Returning players will be evaluated by combining end of season evaluations with their performance during the tryout session to form the fairest assessment possible. All players are encouraged to relax and enjoy playing, and will receive a fair, objective placement.
Players selected for a team will receive an email from their respective Director of Coaching. We will contact the primary email address listed on the player’s registration form. The email will contain instructions to complete the acceptance process by registering with the Gotsport system.
You will accept your spot by completing the Gotsoccer online registration via the invitation email. Acceptance by a player and his/her family is considered binding, and each player/family is expected to make a commitment to their respective program for the duration of the year.
This commitment includes, but is not limited to:
- Filling a roster spot on a team for the entire year
- Fulfilling all training, game and financial commitments
Shreveport United Directors of Coaching have the final decision making power on player placement and reserve the right to move players between teams during the seasonal year.
All CABOSA/Shreveport United coaches are professionally licensed by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), United Soccer Coaches (USC), or UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) governing bodies. All coaches undergo an extensive criminal background check as well as training for concussion and cardiac awareness. All coaches are required to complete SAFE Sport Certification as required by US Youth Soccer and US Club Soccer. Coaching selections for the upcoming season will be announced at our annual Academy & Competitive meeting. Our staff is represented by coaches from around the world who are excited to share their love of the game with your player! Please check our coaches bio pages.
Our primary training and game facility is Cargill Park in Shreveport. There may be times where training is moved to other local facilities due to inclement weather or for other specific reasons. Teams will travel for play based on their individual league and event participation.
Club fees will be announced at our annual Academy & Competitive membership meeting. When you register, a deposit is required to hold your spot and then we offer several payment plan options to fit almost any budget. Players may also apply for full and partial scholarships to be awarded based on financial need. Club fees cover player registration, coaching salaries, field maintenance, insurance, along with other club overhead costs.
Team fees are collected by each individual team and cover team entry fees, referee fees, coach travel reimbursement, as well as other misc. fees.
Shreveport United Tryouts are all “Closed” tryouts. This is out of consideration for the players and is designed to provide a less stressful and more objective player placement process. Parents will drop their player off at the Cargill soccer gates and then may wait at the top of the hill for the conclusion of tryouts to pick up their player.
It is our hope that we can provide a place for all players to play and/or train. However, player placement is dependent on the total number of players in a pool and the quality of each individual player. If we cannot offer your player a roster spot, we will contact you with alternative playing options.
