ACADEMY OPEN TRAINING

CABOSA/SU’s Academy program is for 8U, 9U and 10U players who want more than the traditional recreational experience, and who may be considering participation in Competitive soccer when they reach 11U. WELCOME LETTER

Dear Parents and Players,

Registration is OPEN for the 2021-22 Academy Program!! This is a program for players who are born in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

The most important benefit to participating in the 8-10U Academy is the professional training and guidance the players will receive from the CABOSA/SU staff coaches. The focus will be on developing technical and tactical skills that will prepare players for higher level of play.

The Academy Fall season starts on August 9 and ends on December 9. Then the players will come back for the Spring season in mid-January and continue to play till mid-May. There will be 3 sessions per week at Cargill. All Academy practices are from 4:45-6:15 PM. 8-10U Boy’s practice on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8-10U Girl’s practice on Mondays Wednesdays and Thursdays.

It is important that players attend training sessions on a regular basis. The coaching staff and the club directors realize that the kids may skip a session here and there due to school, other after school activities, different sports, music, etc. Therefore, missing a training session is not frown upon, neither there are negative consequences for the players.

Age groups will be separated… 8U (born in 2014), 9U (born in 2013), and 10U (born in 2012).

There is a perception that the academy players cannot play other sports. It is quite the opposite. Physical Education classes are extinct from the schools now days, playgrounds are mostly abandoned, and kids do not play on their own in their neighborhoods anymore. We do know that participating in different sports can help the child’s overall physical development, therefore help their soccer development as well.

In summary, CABOSA/SU Academy Program is by far the best way to develop skills, not only here in our area but in the whole state as well. Over the years all our top players were part of the academy programs. Those are the players that moved to compete soccer after graduating the U10 academy, players that went on and played successfully at high school, were part of the Olympic Development Program (the state teams), some made it to the regional team and the national team pool. Not many people know but we have so many CABOSA/SU players that went on and played, and still play, at different colleges and universities, from NCAA Division 1, D2, D3 to NAIA and Junior Colleges. Those players were recruited by these colleges wearing our club uniforms while playing with their CABOSA/SU teams and teammates. Some of these players, along with their pictures and where they went to play can be seen on our club’s website www.cabosa.org/collegeplayers

The Academy coaching staff is great. We have coaches that have many years of youth soccer, high school, college head coaching experience, and even coaches that have been involved in the pro game. Most importantly, every year the Academy consistently managed to develop outstanding players.

Please check coach’s bios on the website under the contacts tab.

You can register by going to www.cabosa.org/academy . Please read the new registration procedure carefully. Also, on the website you can find an overview of the academy where everything is explained in detail.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!
