CABOSA/SU’s Academy program is for 8U, 9U and 10U players who want more than the traditional recreational experience, and who may be considering participation in Competitive soccer when they reach 11U. The program is ideal for those players with a strong desire to increase their technical skills, their knowledge of the game, and who may consider a more serious commitment to the game of soccer.
What is the Academy?
Academy soccer is the next step in the CABOSA/SU soccer pyramid above Recreational soccer. It is a stepping stone into Competitive level and higher level soccer experiences.
Who can join the Academy?
The CABOSA/SU 2022/23 Academy will be open to Boys and Girls born in 2015 (U8), 2014 (U9) and 2013 (U10).
What does the Academy provide?
3 organized sessions per week with a qualified coach. A variety of games in a fun and safe environment to develop your player. A player centered philosophy and player development methodology that looks to encourage all players to improve their skills and level of soccer knowledge.
Do Academy teams play games?
Academy players are organized into pools of players. Academy pools then enter teams into the CABOSA REC League one age group up to provide a higher level of competition.
United Academy teams will also have opportunities to play in a number of tournaments, festivals and scrimmage events.
How are the Academy “teams” organized?
Players are grouped into player pools based on the year they were born and split Boys and Girls this season 22/23 we will look to have 6 Academy pools;
2013 Boys (U10B) 2013 Girls (U10G)
2014 Boys (U9B) 2014 Girls (U9G)
2015 Boys (U8B) 2015 Girls (U8G)
By organizing our groups this way we have flexibility to move individuals around and select different rosters for different events.
Why join the Academy?
The mission of the Academy is to provide a platform for players to foster a love of the game in a structured and well managed environment. With an age specific playing philosophy, methodology and proactive style of play the United Academy is the best possible learning environment for players who may be looking to join Competitive soccer teams as well as higher level soccer teams in the future (Varsity High School, Collegiate Athletics etc)
We believe that CABOSA Shreveport United Academy “graduates” have a much higher chance of developing into lifelong participants of the game and much better chance of achieving individual and team success later on in their soccer careers.
This is due to the increased individual skill level of our Academy players after committing to the program and to the level of game and field understanding that is taught throughout their time in our system.
